After those memorable holidays finishing pre-degree, my parents decided to watch me as an engineer. So they choose the college, course and place. I decided to go on with the served path. In order to start the college life I made a different plan of acting as a good student before the college, just for a first and best impression. So for such an image I prepared full sleeve shirts, normal trousers, big framed specs, and a decent hair cut. I visualised every scene and preplanned situations that can make me a bookworm. I dreamt of a class full of rocking students who wanted to enjoy their college life. So I believed the first bench will be probably unoccupied. So that I can enter that bench and lift my hand whenever the question is asked. The first day in college was totally unexpected.
As always like the school days I was late to class. The first view just made me depressed. First benches seemed to be over crowded with students. I got the last bench as like it was reserved for me. More things happened during the second period. Deepa madam made me stand for a question that was tough enough. When I felt the class bored, I took a paper and started drawing the class around me. She saw me standing and drawing something. Then she shouted ;
"Daivas, bring that here " I felt nothing unusual because it was usual for me during the school days. In a second I walked to her and gave her that paper. She unfold that paper and saw the game we played last period with my drawing. I had a usual face like nothing happened. She spoke then,
" Take this and get out " Without no sign of apology I took the paper and left.
At this time I noticed someone who is having the properties which I wanted to showcase. He had full sleeve shirts, formal trousers, black shoes, gentle hair cut etc. and was sitting in the first bench answering the questions. It was like watching myself as I dreamt.
His name was Abhiram. I continued the way I started. Students started calling him 'silencer' in accordance with the famous character in Bollywood movie '3idiots'. He was partially a bookworm who shows no interest in anything else. Time was running fast as like the bullet trains of China. By this time I got occasions to meet him and know him. My friends who wanted to unite the visible worst of the class hated him because he was not willing to join them. I usually found time for sharing some ideas with him. He visits his home frequently whenever he gets a small holiday. So it showed his homesickness, or else his love to be in home. We usually talk about family, social issues and movies. Whenever the subject becomes family he showed his immense desire of being with his family. He told me about the strong relations and bonds that existed within his family.
I was having a dream of uniting my clustered family together. Even from childhood I used to dream about that. With his company hearing the stories of love and affection in his family I got attracted. I studied him with his abilities and capabilities.
He is a man of nothing special. If I can study something reading it 5 times, then it will take 15 times for him to study the same. But what makes him precious is that he is ready to read it 20 times when I show no interest in reading the same once. So I wanted to know why is it so. And I found the answer as determination. His strong determination that held him firm on his path. Sometimes I used to watch him neglected, criticized and avoided. Such a determination that strengthen him, holds him. Talking as a communication engineer, whatever the noise comes in his path, he has the best filter called determination to clear his signal towards success.
This experience is truly inspirational. Downloading motivational videos and watching them and getting them as a usual practice is a common foolishness we do. Look around. Watch ; eyes open. If you can't see nothing to motivate you, then you can't be motivated.
